Apple TV+ has won the rights to a series from the Legendary MonterVerse. That’s a fictional universe where the movie Godzilla vs Kong takes place, for example.
It is not yet known what the new series of Apple TV + will be called and when it will appear. We do get a small preview of the story that is being followed.
Apple TV+ scores rights for Godzilla
In 2014 we were introduced to the MonsterVerse from Legendary for the first time. The happened through the movie Godzilla, which was succeeded in 2017 by Kong: Skull Island. Then in 2019 we got Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the most recent part appeared in 2021 in the form of Godzilla vs Kong.
The Apple TV+ series will be produced by Legendary Television. The studio picks up Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye) in the house to get the job done. As mentioned, the series does not have a name yet, but Apple does already know what it is about on its website.
“After the mighty battle between Godzilla and the Titans and the reality that monsters are real, a family goes in search of hidden secrets. In that search, they find a legacy linked to a secret organization known as Monarch.”
Not a bad match
Legendary’s MonsterVerse and Apple TV+ are certainly not a bad match. The streaming service already has enough to offer in the field of science fiction. For example, think of the series Foundation which is based on the legendary story of Isaac Asimov.
Of course also know For All Mankind, Dr.Brain in Swan Song to entertain fans of the genre.
Apple TV+ enjoys quite a bit of success
The battle for streaming services won’t win, but Apple TV+ is actually doing quite well. The content that is produced is better than on any service on the market. This is certainly reflected in all the prizes that the films, series and documentaries have won.
