Microsoft has announced plans to acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, a deal that will make Microsoft one of the biggest video game companies in the world. With the deal, popular game franchises like Call of Duty, Warcraft, Overwatch and more will become part of Microsoft’s ever-expanding studio portfolio, alongside Bethesda and its own Xbox Game Studios.
Although the deal has yet to be finalized, Microsoft’s intention to acquire Activision Blizzard raises questions about antitrust and how Microsoft could direct Activision Blizzard’s toxic corporate culture.
