Templates are already an incredibly popular feature, which we could see on TikTok, and are often the basis for various challenges and trends on the platform, which are going viral, and those that have created them popular.
It should be noted that the announced feature is still in beta and can only be tried by select people, and it is a small number of influencers.
“We’re always working on new ways to make Reels easier to create. We’re testing the ability to make Reels using an existing template from another Reels,” a Meta spokesman told and thus officially confirmed that Instagram will copy another original feature of its competitors.
The novelty gives users the option to select “Use as template” on any Reels video to replace the videos with their own. While the current version of “Templates on Reels” gives users a number of preset options, the new feature seems to give the ability to use any Reels video as a template, ”shared impressions of influencer Josephine Hill.
Instagram has introduced many TikTok-like features on Reels in the past in an effort to keep up with a platform that Generation Z has fully appropriated as its own.
Some recent examples include the Remix feature, the ability to collaborate on videos, new music features, and visual responses. Since Instagram presenter Adam Mosseri said last year that the platform will double the video segment through this year, we’ll probably see even more new innovations in the coming months.
Although, it’s hard to call innovative something taken from the competition.
