Google’s Pixel Buds Pro scheduled for the end of July will be the brand’s first wireless headphones equipped with active noise reduction. But this addition might not be the only noteworthy new feature on Google’s future premium headphones.
Google offered us a great edition of its Google I/O this year with a lot of announcements on the hardware side. In particular, we were treated to an update of their Pixel Buds wireless headphones with a brand new premium offer, new Pixel Buds Pro.
One of the standouts of Google’s Pixel Buds range has always been the quality of the touch controls the headphones offer. This new edition finally brings this year an expected active noise reduction, with an autonomy estimated at 11 hours (with ANC deactivated) according to the brand. But what would really make these headphones special would be the return of gesture controls to both headphones, as pointed out Android Police.
Better access to control commands
In headphones today, it’s not uncommon for you to not have the same controls in the right and left earbud. For example, on Sony’s WF-1000XM4, it is possible to choose which controls you have and which side, but you cannot have more than 2 out of 3 controls on the same side. So if you have volume and playback control on one side, you won’t be able to switch between the different noise canceling modes on the same side at the same time.
This situation can become somewhat embarrassing if, for one reason or another, you find yourself with your hand taken by your phone, for example, or if you prefer to use only one earphone to keep an ear on your environment. .
A return to what the Pixel Buds 2 offered?
The Pixel Buds A
had reduced the control possibilities somewhat and Google could (hopefully) return to this model with a series of more complete touch controls on each earphone. This return of touch controls would notably mean that future buyers of Pixel Buds Pro could no longer have accessibility problems with the controls on their headphones.
The touch controls certainly still need a little more precision to be able to offer a perfectly reliable experience. But the fact that Google can once again offer a series of comprehensive controls on each Pixel Buds Pro undeniably ups the ladder of interest in these future headphones.
