Designed for the new generation of ‘two-digit EOS’ users, the EOS R10 lets you capture impressive, high-performance photos and videos, making it a great fit for content creators and photographers on the go. Today, two RF-S series lenses were introduced – RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM, ultra-compact zoom lens for everyday use and RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM, high magnification lens for multiple purposes.
Since the first launch of EOS R, Canon has expanded its range of full-frame cameras to meet the diverse needs of photographers and content creators. With the introduction of the AOS-C mirrorless EOS R camera, it further enhances Canon’s efforts to expand the range of choices that will allow a wider group of photographers and content creators to realize their creative ambitions.
As new models in the EOS R series, the EOS R7 and EOS R10 bring intelligent autofocus technology from Canon’s high-performance full-frame models to the APS-C format. With in-depth learning and Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology, users can track subjects such as vehicles, animals and people with accurate head, face and eye detection in 100% of the frame. With autofocus of up to -5 EV on one and -4 EV on the other and functional up to f / 22 with teleconverters, the EOS R7 and EOS R10 make it easy to track birds in flight or athletes on the move, whatever the circumstances. Both cameras have a touch-and-drag autofocus feature, with the EOS R7 being the first camera in the EOS R to feature a combined multi-controller for autofocus and a control dial. This opens up the ability to control the autofocus point and playback functions with just one thumb movement or wheel rotation.
With the best performance in this class of camera, which allows you to easily capture the right moment, the EOS R7 and EOS R10 have the fastest continuous mechanical shutter of all APS-C EOS cameras at 15 frames per second and electronic shutter at 30 and 23 frames per second. On the EOS R7, the speed of the mechanical shutter reaches 1/8000 second, and the speed of the electronic shutter reaches 1/16 000 seconds, which effectively freezes even the fastest subjects. Running with the latest DIGIC X processor gives these highly responsive cameras the ability to process images extremely quickly. RAW continuous shooting mode of 30 frames per second allows photographers and content creators to work with images taken in a continuous sequence as with movie files, simplifying frame selection. With pre-recording mode enabled, it can be recorded 0.5 seconds before the shutter is pressed.
Perfect for all those who shoot on the go or more in a second, the Collaborative Image Stabilizer (IBIS) on the EOS R7 combines the EOS R6, EOS R5 and EOS R3 to achieve the highest 8-step image stabilization level. For the first time on EOS series cameras, the image stabilization system is used to level the horizon with the “automatic leveling” feature enabled, and compensates for vertical shaking when shooting in newly added panoramic or continuous scroll modes. With increased range, the newly designed 32.5 and 24.2 megapixel APS-C sensors in the EOS R7 and EOS R10 allow you to capture sharp images even from a distance, ideal for sports photographers and nature photographers so they need to capture close-up actions. Dual Pixel RAW modes with HEIF, Compact RAW and HDR open up great possibilities for post-production and allow you to achieve better scene tones. The Digital Lens Optimizer automatically creates the best JPEGs in the camera itself, correcting distortion without losing shooting performance.
The weight of only 612 g in the case of the EOS R7 and 429 g for the EOS R10 means a significant improvement for photographers and content creators, but also a relief compared to the existing combination of DSLR camera and lens. Compact yet robust, the EOS R7 is weather resistant, making it ideal for those shooting in challenging conditions.
Due to the growing need to record videos and photos, the EOS R7 and EOS R10 have the ability to record videos in 4K technology with 60 p on one or 4K with 30 p on the other, which is reduced with 7K and 6K technologies and thus achieves the highest possible quality images. This can be played back in HDR PQ (YCbCr 4: 2: 2 10-bit) on the camera itself or via HDMI. The EOS R7 also has an additional 4K cut-out mode with 60p, which further increases the range and is ideal for capturing nature. Both cameras can record videos longer than 30 minutes, so 4K videos at 60p can be recorded for up to an hour, allowing you to record longer content, such as conversations and events. Both models support HDR PQ (YCbCr 4: 2: 2 10-bit BT.2020) movies that achieve high dynamic range with minimal gradation. For those looking to go a step further, the EOS R7 is the first APS-C EOS to use Canon Log 3 and Cinema Gamut, allowing for a more flexible editing and editing process. Perfect for those looking to expand following on social media, both models support vertical shooting and technologies that stabilize videos recorded on the go. The EOS R7 can combine In-Frame Image Stabilizer (IBIS) with Optical Image Stabilizer and Movie Digital Stabilizer for unsurpassed stabilization, and the EOS R10 uses lens data that has Optical Image Stabilization to enhance the Movie Digital Image Stabilization effect.
Thanks to intuitive design and improved connectivity, content creators and photographers can now better organize their workflow. With an electronic viewfinder point of 2.36 m and OVF viewing assistance, DSLR camera owners can now easily switch to mirrorless cameras with a familiar viewfinder environment. Adjustable adjustment wheels and adjustable tilt LCD screen make it easy to handle, while the camera’s built-in multi-exposure shooting and depth of field from these cameras make it a powerful creative tool. The EOS R7 features a 1.15-fold high-magnification viewfinder that provides shooting enthusiasts with a comprehensive shooting and playback environment. The EOS R10 with built-in flash is a fantastic multifunctional tool for photographers shooting in a variety of circumstances, whether indoors or in dimly lit rooms. With two Dual UHS-II card slots, the EOS R7 supports instant backup, separate storage for images and videos or recording in different formats for each card.
Both cameras feature enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth technology, making it easier for content creators and photographers to share, store and sort what they’ve captured. Content creators can transfer their content to the final destination via the image.canon service or the Camera Connect application with a compatible USB Type-C cable or via a wireless connection. For those who stream their content, both models have pure HDMI output for streaming and uploading content to YouTube via image.canon. RAW files can now be transferred directly to Canon’s new Cloud Image Processing service at image.canon. The service applies image processing via neural network, which improves image quality in RAW files. The EOS R7 and EOS R10 are ideally positioned for content creators also because they both have a new multifunctional accessory holder, the first of its kind for the EOS APS-C models and providing power and communication at high speeds for new advanced accessories.
The EOS R7 and EOS R10 allow users to explore Canon’s vast line of RF lenses. In addition to adapters, EF and EF-S lenses can be used on them, thus achieving an easy transition from DSLR and mirrorless cameras.
