Apple goes like a fire brigade: iPhone dominates global smartphone market | TechBuzz

Apple smartphones proved very popular in April. External research shows that the iPhone is hijacking the global smartphone market. Five different models emerge within the top ten. In addition, the South Korean brand Samsung and the Chinese brand Xiaomi are also well represented.

This type of market research is often conducted by Counterpoint Research and it is again the case. The market researcher says that the five iPhone models, in the top ten best-selling smartphones, account for 89 percent of sales at Apple. That’s a high number; the Samsung models mentioned are only 22 percent.

Apple and 5G are doing well

In addition, another striking fact emerges. Consumers seem to be warm to smartphones with 5G on board, as the number of models with support for that network standard has almost doubled. Of course, it could also be that some people just always get a new iPhone and that the number of 5G models is artificially increasing as a result. This doesn’t necessarily mean 5G is actually preferred.

In total, seven models have the 5G standard, compared to four versions in the same month last year. The minor success of 5G may also be due to the fact that some cheaper devices offer the option. This makes the technology affordable and therefore accessible.

The iPhone 13 is the most popular iPhone that Apple currently has. That version is closely followed by the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, followed by the iPhone SE. The latter model did mainly well in Japan. Within the top ten, the iPhone 12 is the last for the company from Cupertino.

It is also noticeable that consumers are much more likely to opt for smartphones that are relatively cheap, such as the Samsung Galaxy A13, A03 Core and A53 5G. These are not flagships, but often offer a very good price-quality ratio.
