If we are to believe the latest rumors, three new versions of the Apple Watch are coming this year, including the Series 8. However, all three versions seem to use the same chipset that we already encounter in the Series 7. In terms of performance, the new ones seem models are therefore basically not going to advance.
In addition to a regular version of the Apple Watch Series 8, we may also expect two other models. The three models will all look different from the outside, but they – allegedly – share the same basis. And that basis is therefore the same processor that we already encounter in the Series 7.
Apple Watch Series 8: three models?
The standard version of the Apple Watch Series 8 probably follows a predictable path. In addition, Apple also plans to release an updated Watch SE model and an extreme sports version. At least, if we are to believe the usually well-informed Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman.
The three Apple Watch Series 8 variants are therefore probably no faster than their previous versions. But perhaps Apple is still performing a software trick, so that things can still be optimized. In terms of other specifications, we should not expect the Watch to exceed the level of the Series 6.
And what will happen in 2023?
Gurman is also making a prediction for 2023. Then we can expect Apple smartwatches that will indeed get a boost in speed, since they “get a completely new processor”. Furthermore, the new Watch SE will have the same screen size as its predecessor.
Battery Apple Watch gets a nice upgrade thanks to watchOS 9
With the release of watchOS 9, later this year, support for the Apple Watch Series 3 will also disappear. The current Watch SE can then take over the role of a cheaper model. But exactly what the future holds in store remains difficult to predict — that also applies to the tech industry.
