The future mixed reality headset from Apple should benefit from high-end content, in any case everything leads to believe it. The company would call on big names in the film industry to make its headphones stand out and would not skimp on the means.

The virtual reality helmet, it will not be for now. Apple did not announce its famous VR headset during its annual WWDC. This novelty expected in the more or less near future will therefore not arrive immediately and obviously Apple would still be working on it and hoping to be able to incorporate new kinds of experiences into it. The Californian company would also call on Hollywood directors such as Jon Favreau, the director of the Iron Man saga, to help it on its VR headset, according to the New York Times.

Hollywood-worthy content

We are not yet at the level of Tony Stark’s helmet, but Apple is doing everything possible. The director known for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently developing an experience designed for Apple’s future headphones. This would be based on the universe of the documentary series Apple TV + prehistoric planet of which he is the producer and would bring the dinosaurs of the series to life for an immersive experience. This type of content would give Apple a differentiating point against the competition, especially Meta, which would also be at work and would already provide not one, but four augmented reality headsets. Information from the Times also corroborates what Mark Gurman, tech journalist for Bloomberg, had announced about Apple’s intentions to launch its helmet in 2023, a helmet whose design would be reminiscent of a pair of ski goggles.

Difficulties justifying a postponement

The New York daily also reports that the company would experience difficulties with the power supply of the device which would have prompted Apple to postpone its release for 2023, once again confirming the statements of Bloomberg which evoked the fact that the company is reportedly likely to postpone its release due to overheating issues. The engineer in charge of the project, Mike Rowell, formerly of Dolby Technologies, would have come up against the beginning of the project with the computing power of the device considered too weak.

This product would have even sown some discord within the company with at least two members of the team dedicated to the design who would have left the company. Departures caused by worries related to the development of the product which could change the way people interact with each other. If we look back, we could almost think that everything was calculated for the arrival of this product as the synergies are present. The company can leverage Apple TV+’s efforts to attract big names in the film industry, while on the software side it’s been encouraging developers to launch their augmented reality app on iPhone since 2017 using its ARKit .
