By the way, why is Alienware called Alienware? | TechBuzz

Alienware is a high-end laptop brand specially dedicated to video games, but where does the name come from?

Alienware is an American computer hardware company and subsidiary of Dell. It has the reputation of offering the latest technologies available on computers specialized in the field of video games. What is strange is that it presents a rather unusual graphic visualization – both in characters and in images: it is a logo with the shape of an alien that represents the brand.

It all starts with Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aquila

Alienware was founded in 1996 by Nelson Gonzalez, CEO, and Alex Aquila, COO, two dedicated entrepreneurs with a passion for video games. Their goal was clear: to revolutionize the gaming industry. If in its beginnings, the company had a modest capital, it has now become one of the leaders in the gaming computer market. On April 17, 2002, Alienware launched its Area-51m, the first portable computer powerful enough for video games. This is obviously a reference to Area 51; a secret place in the USA which has rightly nurtured a whole mythology around aliens. This area is specifically in Lincoln County, Nevada.

Very powerful, fast and equipped with a graphical capacity never before encountered on a portable PC, the Area-51m is the first computer to impose itself among PC gamers. A year later, on May 14, 2003, Alienware unveiled its all-new Alienware logo and unmistakable Alienhead symbol.

Alienware was inspired by a famous American series: X-Files

Alienware’s name is inspired by the American television series X-Files: On the Borders of Reality. In this series, special agents investigate some unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. Mulder, one of the main characters, believes in the existence of extraterrestrials and the paranormal. This series was followed by the two founders of the Alienware company Nelson Gonzalez and Alex Aguila.
