The electric Polestar 2 is now equipped with Apple Carplay support. That’s what the company makes itself via social media familiar.

The choice to equip this Polestar 2 with Apple CarPlay is striking, but certainly not undesirable. iPhone users have been asking for support for a long time, given that the electric car has been based on Android Auto until now. Unlike many other manufacturers, Polestar did not develop its own infotainment software and the cars came standard with Google’s system.

The Polestar 2 was the first car ever to come standard with Android Auto. This way it was possible to use Google Maps, listen to Spotify and download applications from the Google Play Store. Consumers who have an iPhone can now also do this with Apple’s apps and services. So think of Apple Maps, Apple Music and the Phone app.

Preparing for the next generation

The introduction of Apple CarPlay will undoubtedly also prepare for the next generation. During WWDC 2022, the world was introduced to the new version that, for example, can also take over your entire dashboard. It will take some time before you can get started with it though. While many functionalities will appear during the launch of the new software in the fall, CarPlay fans will have to be patient. The new version will see the light of day in 2023.

By rolling out the support, the Polestar 2 leaves all Tesla models behind. The popular electric cars from Elon Musk’s company have many smart functionalities. Support for Apple CarPlay is unfortunately not part of this.
