A connected watch or bracelet is practical for measuring your health or sports activity data during one-off training sessions, but it’s even better if these devices manage to stay connected to your smartphone. Unfortunately, several users of Fitbit’s latest bracelet, the Fitbit Charge 5, have been reporting frequent loss of connection for several months.

In question, a software problem which seems to date from January and which prompted users to restart their connected bracelet. Nevertheless, it seems that Fitbit is about to correct this connection problem. As reported by the 9to5Google site, a moderator of the Google subsidiary indicated on the brand’s forums that Fitbit “working on a fix” in order to solve the problem. However, no estimate is given as to when users can expect a more reliable connection: “Our team is aware of the situation with the Charge 5 and is working to resolve it as quickly as possible. At this time, we do not have further details about our investigation or the timeline for the fix.”.

Concretely, the concern posed by this loss of connection prevents the bracelet from synchronizing its data with a smartphone, but also from finding the training history on the Charge 5 or even from benefiting from notifications directly on its wrist.

Fitbit is also working with Google on the Pixel Watch

As a reminder, the Fitbit Charge 5 is the latest high-end bracelet launched by Fitbit. It is one of the few connected bracelets on the market to benefit not only from the measurement of heart rate and SpO2, but also from a GPS for tracking traces as well as an electrocardiogram, a function found mainly on high-end connected watches. Fitbit has also worked alongside Google on the software and sports measurement functions of its future connected watch, the Google Pixel Watch. This is expected for next fall, at the same time as the future Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.
