In Istanbul today, Huawei officially introduced, in addition to a tablet with an e-ink display or new laptops, the latest generation of its first flexible smartphone. What was the impression of the Huawei Mate Xs 2 live?

Lower weight, higher performance

At first glance, it is obvious that Huawei is structurally based on its predecessor. It still applies that it uses the display on the outside, which is thus constantly in contact with the user’s palm (or pocket). The button located near the main cameras is used to open it, which, when pressed, partially opens the display, but then it is up to the user to open it completely. It is not possible to open the Mate Xs 2 with one hand, at least not without the possibility to deny the device something. You will also face sticky prints.

It is also slightly smaller in size and 45 grams lighter, which is already a noticeable change compared to the previous generation. The back side in the open state forms a serrated surface, which is pleasant to the touch, the frame is metal.

New with selfie camera

The external display received a major upgrade, which has a slightly smaller 7.8 “diagonal (the previous version had an 8” panel), but will offer a 120Hz refresh rate. A significant novelty is also the presence of a built-in selfie camera, which has a wide range and you can look at the pictures from it in the upcoming photocell. According to Huawei, the display panel then consists of four layers, while the upper one is to ensure increased durability.

Better photo equipment

The smartphone is newly equipped with a 50Mpx True-Chroma camera with a 23mm focal length and f / 1.8 aperture, which is also one of the improvements over its predecessor. However, the equipment does not include a 13Mpx ultra-wide-angle lens with a 13mm focal length and f / 2.2 aperture or a triple telephoto lens with a resolution of 8 Mpx, 85mm focal length and f / 2.4 aperture. It is also the only photo equipment with optical stabilization.

From 0 to 90% in 30 minutes and Snapdragon without 5G

In terms of performance and endurance, the Huawei Mate Xs 2 relies on a 4,600 mAh battery with 66W (wired) charging support to charge the new from 0 to 90% in just 30 minutes. Fast charging will definitely come in handy thanks to the Snapdragon 888 chipset, which has enough power for years to come, but at the same time it will require a large amount of energy during more demanding operations.

Will he look at us too?

Huawei Mate Xs 2 was previously introduced on the domestic (Chinese) market, but at the moment it is still not clear whether it will also look at our market. We will inform you about a possible decision to start selling a flexible novelty from Huawei on the Czech market.
