Glami was founded in 2013 in the Czech Republic as a fashion search engine and over the years has connected its platform with more than 3,200 online fashion stores. Thanks to the constant investment and use of artificial intelligence, which leads to smart categorization and selection of fashion tailored to each individual, Glami facilitates fashion discovery and shopping. It welcomes more than 40 million visitors a month to 13 markets, and users can choose from more than 15 million products and more than 25,000 brands.
Stileo was founded in 2014 with a similar vision – to gather and organize a fashion offer in the “fashion mecca” of the world, Italy. The company is headquartered in Wroclaw, Poland and currently employs a dedicated team of 30 professionals from business development to marketing. The Italian online shopping market has grown rapidly and reached 35.6 million users, while online fashion shopping generates 26% of its revenue. Stileo is one of the largest online fashion store websites in Italy with 7 million visitors per month, who can discover fashion products from more than 220 partner e-shops. Among the most important partners are Amazon, Farfetch, Escarpe, Luisaviaroma, Metz Shopping and Maxi Sport.
Both Glami and Stileo have grown over the years, becoming key players in the fashion online store in their markets. While Glami managed to gain a strong foothold in Central and Eastern Europe, Stileo managed to establish itself in the highly competitive Italian market. As Stileo becomes part of Glami, it will continue to operate under the Stileo brand in the Italian market, and plans to integrate its technology platform with Glami in July.
“Some Czech companies are looking for an investor at this stage, not investing. I am proud that Glami is going in the opposite direction from the growth of acquisitions. With this acquisition, we will join forces of both teams into one company with more than 130 employees. We are creating a strong technology team that plays an important role in online commerce in Europe. Moreover, it will enable a larger economy of scale, an even deeper exchange of knowledge, pooling resources and much stronger bargaining power with advertisers and partners. ” – states the co-founder and CEO of Glami Tomáš Hodboď.
Stileo begins a new chapter as he becomes part of Glami. “We are thrilled to have joined Glami’s advanced technology platform with the latest features and in-house manufacturing and development resources. Over the past few years, Glami has invested heavily in the implementation of machine learning technologies in its technology stack and has seen great results when it comes to personalized product recommendations, similarities and scalable content management models. By merging our companies, our Italian customers as well as partner online stores will soon be able to take advantage of these technologies. We continue our mission to become the first choice for Italian users when it comes to the search for fashion. ” – says Igor Smolny, CEO of Stile.
“The acquisition brings us a very experienced team with extensive knowledge of the Italian market that will continue to develop it further. At the same time, it provides our current affiliated online stores with access to the attractive Italian online fashion store market. Our plan for the coming months is to transfer Stileo to our technology platform and further accelerate the growth of this market.
