Google already showed the Pixel 7 Pro during the last developer conference, but has not yet revealed all the details about the new smartphone, which is expected with Android 13 in the fall. Google wants to make improvements in one area in particular.

Google Pixel 7 Pro with a better display

Google already installed a good display in the Pixel 6 Pro (test), but the Pixel 7 Pro should be significantly improved. The new generation of smartphones will again have a panel from Samsung, but this time one that is much brighter. Google wants to improve both in normal mode and in outdoor mode, where the brightness increases significantly. There is one maximum brightness of up to 1,200 nits in the roomwhile the Pixel 6 Pro currently has a maximum of 800 nits (source: 91mobiles).

With such high brightness, the Pixel 7 Pro will be even easier to read outdoors. In addition should increase efficiency, because less energy is needed to reach a certain brightness. This could improve the battery life noticeably. In addition, the Pixel 7 Pro would be even easier to read when taking photos, even if you are shooting against the sun or with the sun behind you. A bright display is therefore a must in a high-end smartphone like the Pixel 7 Pro.

The Pixel 7 Pro was already on display at Google I/O 2022:

Other smartphone displays are even brighter

Although Google sources the display for the Pixel 7 Pro from Samsung, the company isn’t getting the best of the best. Samsung itself installs even brighter screens in its Galaxy S22 smartphones. The Galaxy S22 achieves up to 1,300 nits, while the Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra even reach up to 1,750 nits. So the top smartphones from Samsung are even better. It would certainly be interesting to find out whether Google deliberately opted for the weaker display or whether Samsung is currently not releasing the best panel at all. Either way, the Pixel 7 Pro is visibly better in the display area.
