Google wants to build a strong ecosystem with its new Pixel products and compete with Apple. Not only buyers of pixel hardware benefit from this, but also all Android users – as the current example shows.

Google unlocks “Fast Pair” for Wear OS

It was actually expected that “Fast Pair” would only be introduced with the Pixel Watch. However, Google has not yet announced a release date, only saying that the smartwatch will be available later in the year. Nevertheless, you no longer have to wait for “Fast Pair” for Wear OS. With the This feature will be unlocked in the June update (Those: AndroidPolice).

What is “Fast Pair” anyway? With “Fast Pair” all devices connected to the Android smartphone are linked to your Google account and then automatically recognized by other devices that you have connected to the smartphone. This was previously not possible with Wear OS smartwatches, but is now changing with the June update. So if you have wireless headphones connected to your smartphone, they will be automatically recognized by your smartwatch via “Fast Pair”.

This is a massive improvement on all Android smartwatches because the build of the Connection was previously unnecessarily cumbersome. Now all you have to do is set it up on your cell phone and everything will be transferred to other devices. If the headphones then support two devices at the same time, it is possible to switch between smartphone and smartwatch if, for example, a call comes in. It is currently unclear whether this feature only applies to Wear OS 3.0 or is also active in older versions. Information on this is still missing.

The features will be available soon on the Galaxy Watch 4 from Samsung:

Android ecosystem just keeps getting better

Everything that Apple has been creating with its ecosystem for years and that Android users want may soon become reality with Google’s involvement in its own ecosystem. The ideas are not new, because Apple shows all manufacturers how to do it. But only now things seem to be moving, because more and more manufacturers, including Samsung and Xiaomi, want to improve their ecosystem.
