How Apple will improve all its AirPods with new firmware | TechBuzz

It wasn’t discussed at the WWDC 2022 keynote, but in addition to all your other Apple devices, all AirPods will be getting an update soon. After the big presentation last Monday, a beta version of the new firmware appeared.

This firmware brings a number of improvements and bug fixes to all current models. So those are the second- and third-generation AirPods, the Pro and the Max headphones.

Apple is going to improve AirPods with update

The new firmware version in question is number 5 and the specific build number is 5A5282d. It is currently still a beta version. It is not clear when the full version will appear, although we do know that it will be installed automatically.

Once this is the case, all your AirPods models will come with a number of improvements and bug fixes. This includes the improvement of automatic switching. This functionality allows you to switch the AirPods connection from one device to another. Without having to put the earplugs back in the box and activate the pair mode. It is not yet known how this function will work better.

Developers currently have access to the new beta version. It can be downloaded via this page on Apple’s developer website. To install it on the AirPods, several things are needed. Think of an iPhone with iOS 16, Mac with macOS 13 Ventura, the Xcode 14 beta and the supported AirPods.

Then the AirPods must be connected to an iPhone, the iPhone with a cable to a Mac and Xcode 14 must be open on that Mac. Then you go to Settings -> Developer and choose the beta version of the Firmware under the section for AirPods.
