Algebra continues to raise standards in the field of higher education, which, according to data published on the Become a Student portal, has resulted in an increase in applications for study programs by a total of 40 percent compared to last year, or 27 percent when it comes to the first three choices. According to the current number of applications, Algebra records the largest increase in interest in the study of design, for which as many as twice as many graduates applied as last year. Interest in the study of digital marketing increased by 40 percent, while the study of computing recorded 35 percent more applications.

This is the result of continuous investments in the relevance and quality of curricula, but also academic collaborations, such as the one with one of the oldest components of the University of London – Goldsmiths, which provides students with Croatian and British degrees without leaving Zagreb. For these studies, evaluated by one of the 500 best universities in the world, which will be held at Algebra from the next academic year, as many as 160 future students have applied so far, of which 70 are the first choice of studies. Through collaboration with the University of London, graduates of Algebra this school year can choose between undergraduate studies in design, computing and digital marketing.

“The great interest in studying Algebra in collaboration with Goldsmiths University is fantastic news,” said Simon Thomas, British Ambassador to Croatia. “In the year when we celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Britain and Croatia and our 30-year partnership in all fields – from defense and security to business, culture – the cooperation of Algebra and Goldsmiths, cooperation in education, is another proof of further strengthening our connection. I wish all participants a lot of success in obtaining a degree from one of the most prestigious British universities! ”, Says Thomas.

“British universities are rightly recognized as the most prestigious in the world, and the fact that they make international connections is key to that success,” said Nigel Bellingham, director of the British Council. “That’s why I’m thrilled with such great interest in the new partnership of Algebra and Goldsmith. Not only does this collaboration enable students from Croatia to obtain a British degree, but this collaboration also represents a model for other partnerships of this kind between Croatian and British universities. The British Council is proud to partner with Algebra and we will continue to work with our friends in Croatia to contribute to the success of this program, ”explains Bellingham.

Special interest is visible among young people who have already completed three years of professional studies, since this year they had the opportunity to enroll in one of the graduate studies in Algebra, in addition to Croatian and British or French master’s degree, after two years of study. Graduate studies in data science, computer game development, computing and digital marketing can be completed this year with degrees from the University of London and Algebra, and they have at their disposal a joint study “Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence”, accredited by Algebra and French EPITECH last year. This study is also conducted in English, with one year attended in Zagreb and the other in Paris. EPITECH or L’école de l’expertise informatique et de l’innovation is one of the largest technological educational institutions in France, with more than 6,000 students and several campuses at several locations in Europe.

Despite the decline in the number of Croatian high school graduates, Algebra is recording greater interest in its study programs, which is the best indicator that an innovative approach and insistence on the quality of content and the quality of teaching make sense.

“We are very focused on the global occupations of the future and in regular communication with leading Croatian and world employers we adjust our programs, at the same time encouraging the arrival of foreign students. We place great emphasis on practical learning that we provide to students through collaborations with renowned domestic and foreign companies, so the knowledge acquired by our students is immediately applicable in everyday work. This is one of the key reasons why global and domestic employers highly value our graduates, as evidenced by the fact that within three months of graduation, almost all employees are in the profession. This is evidently an important motivator for the growth of applications that we are witnessing, despite the fact that the number of high school graduates who want to continue their education this year is ten percent lower than last year, “said Mislav Balkovic, dean of Algebra.

For the last five years, all graduate studies in Algebra have been conducted exclusively in English, and as of this academic year, this has been made possible in almost all undergraduate studies. In addition to opening a new perspective in employment and career advancement, this approach enables the acquisition of educational experience in a multicultural and multi-national environment.

The experience of studying Algebra gained a new dimension this spring, with the opening of a new Zagreb campus, giving Zagreb a multidisciplinary center of excellence and an incubator of globally competitive human resources, which will increasingly attract domestic and foreign students and students of various educational programs. Students have at their disposal 35 modern lecture rooms and laboratories, 14 online cabinets, video, audio and podcast studio, drawing room, 3D print room, innovation lab, large server room, library and room for project cooperation and many other specialized rooms.
