After several days of silence, the France Identity account ended up lighten its intentions, confirming the information disclosed in a thread of the Parisian journalist Damien Licata Caruso.
In this answer we can read two pieces of information:
- iOS 16 will be able to read the NFC chip of the new identity card, thus allowing its dematerialization on iPhone.
- The France Identity application will arrive on iOS 16 in beta. As on Android, it will be measured in order to “improve the quality and services offered” before its gradual opening.

For the time being, it is still unclear whether integration with the Wallet application is in the cards or whether it will be necessary to simply go through the France Identity application. We will update this article as soon as we know more about this.
As a reminder, iOS 16 should enter beta by July 2022, before a general public release in the fall of 2022, at the same time as the release of the iPhone 14.
