Balenciaga, Prada, Thom Browne: Meta is launching its own online shop for designer clothing so that users can design their avatars even more individually. For the time being, however, this is only available to users in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Anyone who wants to fashionably style their digital self will soon be able to go shopping – initially only in the USA, Canada and Mexico: As ibusiness reports, Meta is launching an online shop in these countries. Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement during an Instagram Live session with Eva Chen, Instagram’s VP of fashion partnerships.

Balenciaga, Prada, Thom Browne

Facebook, Instagram and Messenger users can outfit their 3D avatars with digital clothing from selected designer brands over the next few weeks. Balenciaga, Prada and Thom Browne are the first. The luxury brands can be combined with free clothing items that are already available. It is still unclear when a roll-out will take place in Europe. Price information for the digital outfits has not yet been announced.

“We are launching our Avatars Store on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger so that people can buy digital clothing to style their avatar. Digital goods will be an important way of expressing yourself in the metaverse – and they are also an important engine for the creative industries. I look forward to adding more brands and bringing this to VR soon,” said Zuckerberg.
