More goods and passengers transported by rail in the first quarter ICT Business | TechBuzz

HŽ Cargo doo transported 13.8 percent more goods and achieved 5.5 percent more tonne-kilometers, while at the same time the new freight railway carriers transported 10.3 percent more goods and achieved 14.1 percent more tonne-kilometers. At the end of the first quarter, new carriers had a share of 61.7 percent in total transported goods and 47.8 percent in tonne-kilometers, which is approximately the same level as in the same period last year.

Comparing the types of transport per realized train kilometers, passenger transport occupies 64.9 percent of the total traffic, while the rest is realized in freight transport. Of all freight railway carriers, HŽ Cargo doo had the largest share of train kilometers of 53.5 percent, and nine new freight carriers achieved the rest. At the same time, four new rail freight carriers were not active. The total number of freight train kilometers increased by 7.1 percent, with HŽ Cargo doo having 0.3 percent more and new freight carriers 16.3 percent more train kilometers compared to the period a year ago. The passenger carrier had 0.1 percent fewer train kilometers. The number of transported passengers increased by 34.6 percent, and the number of passenger kilometers by 35.3 percent in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.
