NEM Dubrovnik 2022 opened, which brings trends in the TV industry ICT Business | TechBuzz

A key regional event in the TV industry, located in one of Croatia’s most beautiful coastal cities, has once again brought together leading names in the television profession and business. At the ninth edition of the famous TV market NEM Dubrovnik 2022, the world’s best media experts, panelists and presenters arrived to comment on new trends, different strategies and changes in the television industry. Starting yesterday, Hotel Dubrovnik Palace has become the center of numerous networking opportunities and relevant events.

The TV market started with meetings and gatherings in beautiful restaurants that were an ideal overture to the first day of NEM Dubrovnik 2022, behind which stands the Croatian agency for marketing and TV industry Mediavision.

The grand opening in Dubrovnik this year was taken over by ZDF Studios, the production and distribution department of the German public television ZDF, which specializes in international co-productions, obtaining licenses and promoting ZDF’s program brands. After the welcome drink, Robert Franke (Vice President Drama, ZDF Studios) and Mirela Nastase (Director Drama, ZDF Studios) gave an introductory speech and presented the exclusive premiere of the new Spanish miniseries Boundless. The historical series thematizes the revolutionary voyage of researcher Ferdinand Magellan that will perceive the world.

“A cult explorer and sailor like Magellan is a brand in itself,” Franke explained. The high-budget series, which is expected to premiere on June 10 at Amazon Prime, was filmed in the Dominican Republic, the Basque Country, Madrid and Seville.

Before the show, Susanne Frank (Director of Drama, ZDF Studios) and actors Gonçalo Diniz and Niccolò Senni introduced themselves to the audience through Q&A, and Miguel Menéndez de Zubillaga (Executive Producer) also got involved virtually. The series also stars Álvaro Morte (Money Heist) and Rodrigo Santoro (Westworld) in the lead roles.

“It was the right decision for the producers to stay true to the original story and present it to the audience in the original language. Otherwise, much is lost in translation and performance is lost in effect. Today, streaming platforms bring more and more local content that is increasingly accepted by audiences. We always prefer authentic content because the audience connects more strongly with it, “said Robert Franke.
