The whole thing works under Linux, and the original T9 numeric keypad is used to enter text. Notkia can be used as a wireless communication device, walkie-talkie or very simple computer in terminal mode. Unfortunately, Notkia does not have one important feature. For now, there are no phone calls or mobile internet access, as Remu NotMoe has not been able to find a 4G LTE module small enough to fit in the device. Also, since there is no headphone jack, you will need a wireless headset or USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio adapter to use the headset with Notkia.
All Notkia details can be found on Hackster and HackADay. Reimu NotMoe promises to open source firmware in the future. The project has already been submitted for consideration to the crowdfunding platform Crowd Supply, which means that there is a chance that Notkia will come to market in some form in the future.
