Google Pixel Tablet becomes the Nest Hub
Pixel and Nest devices have so far been strictly separated at Google. That could change with the Pixel tablet. It should be the first product that combines both worlds. You would get a regular android tablet that you can do anything with. If you no longer use the tablet, you can simply use it in the kitchen, for example into a Nest Hub with a display, which can then be operated with the Google Assistant as a smart screen via voice commands. At least that’s what 9to5Google suggests.
Contact points have been spotted on the back of the Google Pixel Tablet. This “Pogo Pins” are used to connect accessories. The position on the back suggests that you can place the tablet in a docking station, where it will be charged at the same time. Adjustments to the software would ensure that the pixel tablet changed the surface depending on the intended use. Android would be used in tablet mode, Fuchsia as a smart speaker. This could be a really interesting combination.
Google also presented this at the I/O 2022:
The idea of a 2-in-1 tablet is not new
Many of you know 2-in-1 tablets as work devices where you can connect a keyboard and the tablets become small laptops. However, Lenovo already has an Android tablet on the market that turns into an Alexa speaker in a “Smart Dock” (check it out at Amazon). So the idea of a tablet and smart speaker combo really isn’t new. However, Google could perfect it, since the software here is specially adapted to the needs of the users. But we still have to wait a few months for implementation.
