Samsung apparently suffers a lot from the competition | TechBuzz

The year 2022 is apparently complicated for Samsung, which would have great difficulty selling its stock of smartphones.

Samsung is still the world’s leading smartphone maker, but for how long? Although still at the cutting edge of technology, the brand now has to deal with tough competition from below. What apparently cause many concerns to the Korean who had apparently not considered such a scenario this year.

50 million too many smartphones

According to sources from Korean media TheElec, Samsung still has 50 million smartphones in stock at various distributors. A particularly high number of unsold items for Samsung. With a target set at 270 million smartphones, these dormant phones represent a shortfall of 18.52%, which is very significant.

In response, Samsung would have halved its production of smartphones between January and May to adapt to this unusually low demand, going from 20 to 10 million devices manufactured per month.

The very competitive mid-range

The phones concerned would essentially be from the Galaxy A range according to TheElec. There are however quality smartphones, like the Galaxy A53 for example which inherited a 9/10 in our columns. Other models, on the other hand, are more subdued, like the Galaxy A33, good, but nothing more.

It must be said that competition has become particularly fierce in this segment with the rise of Chinese manufacturers. We can obviously mention Xiaomi, which has been present for several years already, but also the international launch of brands like Oppo and Realme which are gradually settling in for the long term.

The top three (Samsung, Apple and Xiaomi) remain very far ahead, but the double or even triple-digit growth of these new players is a sign of renewal in this sector. In the first quarter of 2022, Samsung is the only brand in the TOP 5 to have experienced a drop in growth in France.

Samsung still has room and continues to stand out on the high end with its folding smartphones or the quality of the camera of its Galaxy S. It will nevertheless be necessary to make changes on the entry and mid-range to maintain its leadership position.
