Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro have been certified by the FCC. This is the last step before their official presentation expected this summer.
Like every year, Samsung should take advantage of the month of August to unveil its new range of foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4. This should also be an opportunity for the Korean manufacturer to present its new generation of connected watches. While the firm should put an end to the rotating bezel, two distinct models seem however planned for the next Galaxy Unpacked conference, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
It also seems that the two watches are in the very last stages before their official presentation. As spotted by the Indian site MySmartPrice, Samsung has indeed certified its two new smartwatches with the FCC, the American body in charge of regulating communications. What to learn more about certain characteristics.
Versions with or without NFC for each variant
We thus discover that the two watches will be available in several versions: SM-R900, SM-R900X, SM-R920 and SM-R920X. As the Indian site reports, the SM900 versions are expected to match the Galaxy Watch 5 40mm while the SM910 models are said to be the Galaxy Watch 5 44mm. For their part, the SM-R920 and SM-R920X would be the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The X would be used to differentiate the versions compatible with NFC, the models without X being deprived of this functionality and therefore of contactless payment. The two toquantes should thus be compatible with Wi-Fi 2.4 and 5 GHz. They would obviously be compatible with Bluetooth and would all benefit from compatibility with wireless charging up to a power of 10 W. It must be said that this function is integrated into Samsung connected watches since the Galaxy Watch Active, launched in February 2019.
As a reminder, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro should be presented at the beginning of August. In particular, we expect a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro with a larger format than the two Galaxy Watch 5s and with improved battery life compared to last year’s Galaxy Watch 4. Samsung is also reportedly working on a health novelty with the addition of a thermometer to measure skin temperature. We will have to wait a few more months before the official presentations.
