Even now, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is still in the cinemas, but the Marvel blockbuster can now also be seen on Disney+ – at no extra charge and additional costs, but even in an extended version.

Update from June 22, 2022: Starting today, Disney+ subscribers can see the current Marvel cinema hit “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” without a VIP surcharge – normally it’s still in the cinema (watch it on Disney+).

In addition to the original theatrical version in widescreen format, you can also watch the superhero film in an extended version on Disney+. With “IMAX-Enhanced” there are no additional scenes, but selected sequences are played back in the special IMAX aspect ratio of 1.90:1. They then fill the entire TV screen and show more of the content.

Has Disney+ already revealed too much? For a short time, the release date for the streaming provider was on the German Instagram account of all places „Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness“ to see. Accordingly, customers could already from June 22, 2022 see the second part of Doctor Strange on the streaming platform – normally without a VIP ticket surcharge. However, the message was taken offline again a short time later (source: @DragonSkill01 via The Direct).

Doctor Strange 2 on Disney +: is the Marvel hit really coming in June?

This raises the question: How credible is the date mentioned, was it perhaps just a mistake? In theory, June 22nd would be quite possible, after all, Disney would then comply with its own 45-day window for exclusive theatrical marketing. However, the last two Marvel blockbusters were not followed and they were only released later on Disney +. Specifically, there were 70 days between the start of cinema and streaming for “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and 68 days for “Eternals”. In short: There should be at least 10 weeks in between.

A little foretaste in the trailer:

In this respect, a start in July would be more likely. Above all, because Disney certainly still wants to generate the optimum in cinema revenues. “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is currently number 1 in the cinema charts in many countries (including Germany) and has already grossed over 800 million US dollars. The road to a billion is not far away and Disney definitely wants to take it with them. Ergo: Let’s wait, but we would rather expect July than June for a start on Disney +.

But new food comes before that on Disney + for Marvel friends. Already starting June 8th “Ms. Marvel” a new series of the MCU consisting of 6 episodes. These are published on Wednesdays, with the last episode being made available on July 13th. A week before that “Thor: Love and Thunder” starts in the cinemas and from August 17th “She-Hulk” is up to mischief on Disney +.
