Striking Distance Studios announces that its sci-fi horror game is no longer tied to the Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds universe.

Developed using a unique design process called Horror Engineering, The Callisto Protocol will mix elements of brutality with an atmosphere of tense humanity and desperation. On Callisto, Jupiter’s dead moon, in the year 2320, Jacob Lee (voiced by Josh Duhamel), a cargo pilot locked up in Black Iron, will have to escape from the high security prison and discover the terrifying secrets of the United Jupiter Company. In addition to being forced to ally with a mysterious cellmate (voiced by Karen Fukuhara, star of The Boys series), the main character will have to adapt his combat techniques via a unique combination of shooting and melee to defeat creatures that constantly evolve and bring chaos to the penitentiary.

There’s nothing more satisfying than taking players on a terrifying adventure that sticks in their minds long after they put down the controller“, Stated Glen Schofield, PDG of Striking Distance Studios. “Horror and survival games have been my passion for decades now. I can’t wait to take advantage of the latest consoles to take the genre to terrifying new lands when we release The Callisto Protocol.“. CH Kim, PDG of Krafton, adds: “The team at Striking Distance Studios have mastered their craft, and we’re thrilled to share The Callisto Protocol with the world this year. We empower teams to build amazing experiences that sit at the intersection of art, design and technology. Striking Distance Studios is our flagship development team in the western world.
