Thus, the mobile gaming market is growing 1.7 times faster than the overall gaming market, primarily due to the coronavirus pandemic. Globally, users downloaded 45 percent more mobile games during the first quarter of last year, compared to the time before the pandemic. That’s 1.1 billion a week!
At the same time, during the first quarter of this year, $ 1.6 billion was spent on mobile games per week, which is 30 percent more than before the pandemic. Under this, only data from the App Store and Google Play Store are viewed.
The Asia-Pacific region is growing the fastest in terms of consumption, with China leading the way. North America and Western Europe together account for half of spending on mobile games.
Also, users play truly diverse genres, as eight of them are different among the ten most popular games currently. Core Games is at the forefront with its PUBG Mobile, and 4x March-Battle Strategy games are best managed to monetize. Still, Open World RPG games have experienced the biggest growth.
Nearly 50 percent of the most popular games in terms of consumption in the United States are made by women, while consumption is also growing among the older generations, such as X or “baby boomers”. Platforms like Twitch, Omelet Arcade and BOOYAH Live are also enjoying growth in every sense.
What the report emphasizes is that gamer data will become more important than ever, and therefore more lucrative, so Apple, Google and others will shift the focus in that direction even more. At the same time, mobile space is quite democratized and therefore encourages growth. Development teams are happy with such a situation because they can work successfully on multiple genres, rather than as on consoles or computers, be focused on a few of them that do not pose a risk of failure.
