Respondents’ wishes: a good team and a secure job
Respondents who placed companies in the activities of providing accommodation and food preparation and serving make up 4% of the total sample, but their attractiveness preferences do not differ too much from those in the overall sample. Respondents who ranked companies in the field of accommodation and food preparation and serving ranked harmonious workplace relationships as the most important factor (44%), while job security came second (43%).
In relation to the entire sample, respondents for whom the companies in the field of accommodation and food preparation and serving are in the first place to a lesser extent consider the level of salary, while to a greater extent appreciate the opportunity for professional advancement, hierarchical advancement and image employer. On the contrary, the salary of these respondents is at the very bottom of the factors that are crucial for the attractiveness of an individual employer.
For each of the top five employers in the tourism industry, only respondents who cited that employer as the ‘employer of their first choice’ and the reasons they cited as ‘crucial’ for the attractiveness of that employer were observed.
Since the respondents were able to state several reasons that were ‘crucial’ to them, the relative frequency of each of these reasons was measured and the reasons for attractiveness for each employer were compared.
For the respondents for whom the Valamar Group is the employer of first choice, harmonious workplace relations, job security and leadership in the sector are crucial. Maistra is equally attractive for job security and leadership in the sector. Blue Lagoon is a desirable employer primarily because of harmonious relationships, while Global Food and Hotel Admiral are attractive employers because of job security.
Change employer or not?
Only a quarter of employed respondents (26%), for whom the employer of first choice is a tourism company, often think about changing employers. This is significantly less than the respondents from the total sample (46%) think. A third of employed respondents (32%) sometimes think about changing employers, while a high 38% of respondents do not think about changing employers at all, unlike the total sample where only a fifth do not think about changing employers.
Of the benefits, respondents who choose tourism companies as their first-choice employer choose travel allowances and bonuses for outstanding achievements as crucial.
What differs from the respondents in the overall sample is that the respondents for whom the tourist activity is desirable, to a greater extent want a free meal and drink at work.
Covered costs of cultural and sports activities and a car for personal use are crucial benefits for the least respondents.
