A WWDC tradition is the Apple Design Awards. The following apps will be awarded, including a Dutch one.
The WWDC 2022 is in full swing. During Apple’s developer conference, the company announces many novelties. We see the most important ones in the new iOS 16 operating system. But in addition to announcements, the makers of apps are mainly in the picture. One way to celebrate app makers is the Apple Design Awards. This leaves the company with the best apps and games in their class.
A Dutch winner
Apps and games are both awarded in six different categories: inclusiveness, entertainment and fun, interactivity, social impact, graphics and visuals and innovation.
This year a Dutch maker is also in the prize. This honor goes to Volst who created the app Odio. They win the title for app in the innovation category. The app features lifelike ambient sounds such as waterfalls and bubbling rivers. These are made even more realistic by spatial audio and head tracking. The beautiful interface provides futuristic animations that move in sync with the sound. According to Apple, it offers an impressive audiovisual experience.
The best apps according to Apple
But in addition to the Dutch company, there are of course eleven other beautiful apps that, according to Apple, are definitely worth trying. One of the most famous names in the list is probably Procreate. With this app, artists and designers can unleash their creativity. The app now has even more features such as filtering vibrations and movements and audio feedback for color blindness. So even more people can enjoy the app.
Are you less creative and do you want to map out your habits? Then (Not Boring) Habits might be an option. This app turns your habits into an artistic experience in a fun way.
Apple thinks these are the best games
In the categories with the games we see several nice names. For example, you can see Lego Star Wars and Marvel in Apple’s list. Overboard! is the game that takes the prize in the entertainment and fun category. In this crime game you are not the detective but the murderer. By means of clever conversations you must stay out of the picture of the judiciary. You can replay the game several times as there are different outcomes.
