We were a virtualization leader, then we became a private cloud leader, and now we want to be a multi-cloud and apps leader, says in an interview with ICTbusiness.info Joe Baguley, vice president and CTO of VMware for EMEA regions.

According to him, the whole time was not about forgetting previous technologies and bringing some new ones, but we are constantly upgrading the story and creating new solutions and services.

Ultimately, our goal is to develop a cloud operating system, Baguley explains, adding that we should not start from the bottom but from the top, from above and not from below, so not from the infrastructure.

Applications are becoming the center of the story, Baguley explains, adding that we are now opting for a platform that is not specific, but for a completely new and different approach.

“They say I’m opting for this cloud. However, one cloud will not be able to do everything you need in the future. It’s like we said in 1997 that we were going to do everything today on Compaq. Today it is just said I go to Google, Amazon or Microsoft. But instead, we don’t need to plan the infrastructure, we need to plan the applications and their management, “said Baguley.
