The announcement of the M2 MacBook Air is less than a week behind us and the first rumors about new models are already emerging. Very fast perhaps, but that doesn’t make it any less interesting. An old acquaintance seems to be returning.

In addition to the new 13-inch M2 MacBook Air, Apple seems to want to release not only a 15-inch model, but also the 12-inch MacBook. At least, that’s what Bloomberg reports today.

De 15-inch MacBook Air

While we thoroughly enjoyed the WWDC 2022 keynote last week, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman already looked further. For example, his arrows are aimed at the spring of 2023, in which Apple will show its second M2 MacBook Air. According to sources familiar with the case, the American company is preparing for a new 15-inch model. A bit bigger than the variant that saw the light of day last Monday.

If Apple actually brings a 15-inch M2 MacBook Air on the market, this will be a special model. In its 14 years of existence, the 15-inch MacBook Air will be the largest ever. At the moment, that title goes to the new variant with a 13.6-inch screen.

There were rumors that the 15-inch model would see the light of day during WWDC 2022. Earlier, Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) CEO Ross Young announced that this would not be the case. He also spoke of a launch in 2023.

Will M2 cause this comeback?

The biggest MacBook Air ever is cause for enthusiasm, but today it doesn’t quite steal the show. So does the rumor, from Mark Gurman, that Apple is coming with a new 12-inch MacBook. Apple introduced this laptop in 2015 and ended it in 2019. Fully armed with an M-chip, the laptop could make a comeback.

According to Gurman, Apple is working on the new model that should see the light of day in late 2023 or early 2024.

In addition to M2 MacBook Air also Pro models

The new launches are also not ready for this year. Gurman expects Apple to update its current 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro later this year. In that case, both models will be equipped with the M2 Max chips. A logical step given that only the 13-inch MacBook Pro, including the Touch Bar, is equipped with an M2.

It’s still very early to talk about such matters, so take it with a grain of salt.
