Funko will enter the video game market. With 10:10 Games, the company is preparing a platform game.
The worlds of video games and pop culture are closely linked. If it is very common to see a successful video game license impose itself on the pop culture market, with many derivative products, the opposite is rarer. In this industry, Funko, which has made a name for its very numerous and equally diverse figurines, is very well known. And the giant has decided today to get into video games.
Funko will enter the video game market
So Funko is getting ready to venture into whole new territory. The company decided to design video games with the help of developer 10:10 Games. The studio is led by Jon Burton, the founder of Traveller’s Tales and TT Games. “By partnering with 10:10 Games and using the best creators in the industry, we will have the talent to deliver games that reflect Funko’s unique look and feel across its many and very varied products,” said in a statement from Funko CEO Andrew Perlmutter.

The first game from this partnership should be a platform game. This one is expected to arrive on PC and consoles in 2023. Funko explains that this as-yet-untitled game will have “major integration with third-party studios,” which isn’t exactly surprising considering Funko offers in its catalog of figurines very many figurines of successful licenses and that Jon Burton has a great experience with several Lego games. It also seems that Funko is preparing a game stamped “T”, in other words accessible to teenagers (13 years old and over). The first teaser shows a Pop-style character dubbed Funko, but that’s all we have today to get our teeth into.
