The fourth beta of iOS 16 has been released and it brings some new things to Apple’s iMessage app. The application has a modification log of the messages you send and receive.

While waiting for the launch of the public and final version of iOS 16 presented at WWDC 2022, the betas are linked with the fourth version published recently. It updates iMessage and brings functions related to editing messages, which will arrive on the instant messaging application.

Up to five edits per message sent

When a messaging app adds the ability to edit messages, several questions arise. Some malicious people could manipulate this function to create fake conversations. In iOS 16 beta 4, Apple is bringing message editing to iMessage.

In this new version of the application, you can now modify the messages you send, but Apple limits the modifications to five iterations. Once all the changes have been made, the “Modifierdisappears from the menu that appears when long pressing on one of its messages.

Also, the time available to cancel sending a message has been reduced from fifteen minutes to two. But we always have fifteen minutes to modify a message.

Each modification made by one of the two parts of a conversation is recorded and can be consulted by the sender or the receiver. You can see them by clicking on the text “Amendedpresent under each changed message.

By pressing this button, all the changes made appear above the current version of the message, in more gray tones. In the event of a new modification, the previous version passes over and is grayed out in turn.

Changes are also being sent to iMessage users not using iOS 16, although this is a rather flawed solution.
