The Stellantis group, of which Opel is a part, has just announced the arrival of several interesting financing offers on paper. Among them, there is the Opel Corsa-e from 145 euros per month which seems to be a good opportunity. But is it really one? Decryption.
In a context very favorable to electricity, a little less to thermal engines, you may be wondering about the relevance of an electric car for your use. At around 2 euros per liter of fuel at the time of this writing, indeed, the electric can be a financial solution to the abyss that is becoming the thermal car.
Still, the purchase of an electric car remains fundamentally more expensive than its thermal equivalence, even if the aid makes it possible to rebalance the balance. Among the many electric cars on the market, there is the Opel Corsa-e, the technical cousin of the Peugeot e-208 that we tend to forget, especially in France, where the French customer probably prefers move towards a French brand.
Like Peugeot with its e-208, Opel offers an interesting financing offer for its Corsa-e with monthly payments from 145 euros per month. After having therefore deciphered the offer of the Škoda Enyaq iV available from 299 euros / month, that of the Kia EV6 from 297 euros / month, the MG ZS EV at 99 euros / month, the Peugeot e-208 at 149 euros/month, the Renault Mégane E-Tech at 248 euros/month, the Volkswagen ID.3 at 229 euros/month, the Renault Twingo E-Tech at 79 euros/month, the Tesla Model 3 for less than 400 euros/month, the Mini Electric from 350 euros/month, the Hyundai Kona Electric from 139 euros/month, the electric Fiat 500 from 109 euros/month, the Nissan Leaf from 99 €/month, the Volkswagen ID.4 from €309/month, it’s the turn of the Opel Corsa-e to go through our decryption sequence.
What model of Opel Corsa-e is offered at 145 euros per month?
Unsurprisingly, this is the entry-level model, even if it is still the second trim level in the range. It’s an Opel Corsa-e in its ‘Edition’ finish with a range of interesting equipment, although, like the Peugeot e-208 at 150 euros per month, there are some pettiness. On the Opel Corsa-e, we find as standard:
- Keyless entry and start
- Active Lane Keeping Aid
- Cruise control / speed limiter
- Châssis type Sport
- Automatic air conditioning
- Security package
- Mode 2 charging cable – 3.7 kW
- 7-inch digital instrument cluster
- 7-inch digital screen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- 16 inch rims
It lacks a few essentials such as parking sensors, but the Corsa-e still offers more than the e-208 with the presence, as standard, of the 7-inch digital instrumentation screen. The basic color is nice because it is an “Orange Dynamik” model. On the other hand, if you want to add one or two options (including colors), you immediately exit the offer and the monthly payments jump.
All Opel Corsa-e are equipped with an electric motor of 136 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. The battery has a capacity of 50 kWh and makes it possible to carry out 340 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle. The German has not received the update of the Peugeot e-208 which now allows it to display a more generous autonomy of 362 km on a single charge.
What are the conditions to be eligible for the Opel Corsa-e LLD offer?
This is a long-term rental offer on 36 months and 18,000 kilometers maximum. Opel indicates a limit of 500 km per month for its offer, but it is a marketing sleight of hand not to communicate directly on the 18,000 km over the three years of rental, which is generally quite low. Each additional kilometer will be charged 7 euro cents.
The site indicates that the offer at 145 euros per month is subject to a contribution of 2,000 euros. In reality, the contribution is 10,500 euros, but this is absorbed by the ecological bonus of 6,000 euros and the conversion bonus of 2,500 euros, which therefore requires the scrapping of an old vehicle.
To qualify for the conversion bonus, an old diesel or petrol model must be scrapped. The old scrapped vehicle must be a car or van with a gross vehicle weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes. The date of the first registration of this vehicle must be before 2011 for diesels and before 2006 for gasolines.
The vehicle must have belonged to the beneficiary for at least one year, while the reference tax income per unit indicated on the tax notice of your income for the previous year must be less than or equal to €13,489. Many conditions, too many moreover, which will, in the end, concern only very few customers.
How much will the Opel Corsa-e LLD offer cost you
Over three years of LLD, your Corsa-e will cost you 7 075 euros. Opel displays its car from 32,800 euros on its site, ecological bonus of 6,000 euros and conversion bonus of 2,500 euros not deducted. This gives us, once the deductions have been made, a model displayed at the list price at 24 300 euros.
Starting from this price, you will therefore pay, over the three years of rental, 29.1% of the price of your car. That’s pretty decent if you assume that a three-year discount for this type of car is between 30 and 35 percent. As the offer is not an LOA, there is no option to buy back the vehicle. It will therefore have to be returned at the end of the financing..
As always, be aware of refinishing costs which can be expensive at the time of return. We advise you to do it before at a bodybuilder, it will cost you less than at your dealer in general. If you take a vehicle back to your dealer after your LLD, he will also be a little less careful about the costs of repairs.
What are the advantages of the Opel Corsa-e LLD offer
An electric model for 145 euros per month, indeed, comparing with other financing offers, especially for certain thermal models, it is rather advantageous. Especially since the Opel Corsa-e is rather well equipped… while being cheaper than the Peugeot e-208!
Indeed, the Corsa-e is equipped with 16-inch rims, lane keeping assistance, digital instrument cluster, or even automatic air conditioning, something that the e-208 offers, but on the level above.
What are the disadvantages of the Opel Corsa-e LLD offer
The offer is conditional on the conversion bonus and immediately excludes a lot of potential customers. The prescribed mileage over the three years is low with 500 km per month, or 18,000 kilometers over the lease term. This will be suitable for the majority of customers for daily use, but it does not leave much margin for long journeys and it will therefore be necessary to pay the 7 cents per additional kilometer.
Like the Peugeot e-208, the Opel Corsa-e has a good appetite for electrons on the motorway, the range will not exceed 200 kilometers, especially since the German does not yet benefit from the latest update. Stellantis update regarding electric models.
