Oura unveils its Oura Ring Gen3 connected ring. It is equipped with a pulse oximeter.
The wearable market, and more particularly the wearable for health, has evolved greatly in recent years. In addition to the now classic connected watches, it is possible to opt for a connected ring to monitor a certain number of health constants on a daily basis. This is what allows in particular Oura with her Oura Ring. Here is today the third generation, Oura Ring Gen3.

The Oura Ring is a small wearable type electronic device. The latest version, Oura Ring Gen3 offers a number of new features, including a pulse oximeter allowing its wearer to assess their hemoglobin oxygen saturation (SpO2).
The manufacturer explains that the reading is split into two data: “average blood oxygen saturation and regularity of breathing during sleep,” which should allow you to track the quality of your sleep.
Typically the SpO2 should be between 95 and 100%. A lower level can be an indication of importance, to communicate to your doctor for further examinations. Possible causes of low saturation include a problem with the heart or lungs.

Remember though that these electronic devices are not medical devices, they should not be used for making any diagnoses. Manufacturers remind their customers that, while great progress has been made, medical technologies cannot yet be implemented in such small devices and at consumer prices.
Oura Ring Gen3’s sleep and heart rate tracking are great for those who want to monitor their overall health and well-being. With such a device, if you realize that your sleep is not good, you can take measures to improve it, with actions as simple as reducing ambient noise or acting on the lighting, sleeping at more hours regular, etc.
At €300, the Oura Ring Gen3 is certainly not cheap, but it’s a good alternative for people who don’t like to wear a watch or bracelet. It is available in three glossy colors: silver, black and gold, and a matte black.
