Uber is introducing new security options for users
“The safety of everyone who uses our app is our top priority, which is why we are constantly improving Uber’s functionality. The Security Check option will encourage users to use the range of security tools we offer in order to be as safe as possible at all times,” said Morena Šimatić, General Manager of Uber in Croatia.
The new option is in addition to many existing tools such as GPS tracking, personal data anonymization, emergency button, 27/4 support, driver verification, speed alerts, driver working hours restrictions and numerous other safety measures introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reliable contacts: Users can select their Trusted Contacts in the app and set reminders to share their ride with them in real-time. In this way, family and friends can follow the journey and make sure that the user reaches the destination safely.
PIN verification: To make sure they’re getting into the right car, users can turn on PIN verification, where the driver must enter the correct PIN provided by the user before driving. Security checks allow users to turn this option on and select the hours it will be active.
RideCheck: This feature uses GPS technology to detect anomalies while driving, including a long stop or a potential crash. If the app alerts Uber operators to such events, they will verify that the driver and user are safe and offer resources to help.
