The transition of an increasing number of users to the cloud has led to an expected increase in attacks on service providers in it, and not even the largest ones are resistant, in fact. According to Hackmageddon data, Amazon Web Services (AWS) suffered the most problems in the period from January to April – almost a fifth of all native cloud exploits are related to it.

More specifically, it is 18.9 percent and far behind with 9.43 percent are Microsoft OnedDrive, Discord, Dropbox, Google Drive and GitHub. Pastebin is in seventh place with 5.66, followed by Microsoft 365 Suite and Microsoft Azure with 3.77 percent, and the company of the ten most exploited ends with 1.89 percent Adobe Creative Cloud, Blogger, Google Docs, Google Firebase, Google Forms, MediaFire and Microsoft Teams.

Although something like this is problematic for AWS, it is not catastrophic. Namely, that server is the most dominant on the market, accounting for 33 percent of the share in the fourth quarter of last year. More than Microsoft Azure (21 percent) and Google Cloud (ten percent) combined.

Cloud services are an attractive target for cybercriminals due to the availability of different tools within the same application to deliver malicious content and the vast amount of sensitive data they hold.

But, all these negativity will certainly not stop the transition to the cloud and digital transformation in general. It will only deepen the awareness of the need to increase security, and this can only be done with additional investments in it, which implies not only the most modern and best tools available, but also the expansion of the number of employees.

When talking about the cloud, 80 percent of the largest organizations in the world choose hybrid, which is a combination of private and public cloud. It is precisely this “public” segment that is most under attack, so the percentage of use of exclusively private cloud solutions could increase throughout this year and the next.
