The cars presented in this file are under 20,000 euros, once the ecological bonus has been deducted. Most of the vehicles at the heart of our selection are electric city cars. For some, depending on the finishes and equipment desired, the fateful threshold may be exceeded. Customers are more and more fond of rental with option to buy, a system that consists of renting the car for periods ranging from three to five years, in general, and paying a predefined sum every month during this period. A sum that can vary according to the first contribution, the annual mileage or the residual value of the car. This will allow you to also invest in accessories such as GPS trackers.

At the end of the rental contract, you will have two options: buy back the car and exercise the purchase option, or return the car. Financing solutions also exist without a purchase option, such as long-term rental for example, where there will be no purchase option at the end of the lease, only restitution will be possible. We will therefore give you an idea of the monthly payments for the cars presented, knowing that they can vary widely depending on the parameters mentioned above.

A 95 horsepower version, with a 23.7 kWh battery allowing a range of around 185 kilometres, will complete the catalog in the spring of 2021.

Several versions of the Fiat 500 are available and it is the 95 horsepower model offered from 24,500 euros, excluding the ecological bonus of 6,000 euros which is included in this guide. Fiat communicates on financing offers from 270 euros for the 500th with the 42 kWh battery and around 220 euros with the 23.7 kWh battery. Volkswagen E Up!

  • Important autonomy
  • 250 liters of trunk
  • The smoothness of driving

The Volkswagen e-up! was the first of three 100% electric city cars from the Volkswagen group to see the light of day. It was launched in 2013 and had, at the time, a battery of only 18.7 kWh capacity. Since its restyling in 2019, the e-up! nearly doubled its battery size with 36,8 kWh and can browse up to 260 kilometers autonomy on a single charge. Its engine of 83 horsepower et 212 Nm of torque allows him to evolve in town and on the secondary network with a certain ease.

Of the three models, the Volkswagen e-up! is the most expensive because it is also the most “affluent”. The price difference is not significant, however, since it starts from 23,740 euros. With a bonus of 6,000 euros, its starting price amounts to 17 740 euros. Regarding the monthly payments, according to the conditions put in place by Volkswagen, it is possible to arrive at around 270 euros per month for a model with some options.

Dacia Spring

  • The really interesting price
  • Full equipment
  • The cheapest in Europe!

To say that Dacia was eagerly awaited on the electric car market is an understatement. If they are not the most at the forefront of the market, Romanian vehicles shine by their value for money. Unlike most entry-level electrics, the Spring does not adopt a city look, but rather a false SUV look. In practice, it is therefore about ten centimeters longer than most of its competitors.

The 27.4 kWh battery translates according to the manufacturer into a range of 230 km in the combined cycle. A figure that will rise to 300 km in urban use. The engine itself is not going to take your breath away, the engine producing 44 horsepower and 12 Nm. In terms of speed, we will top out at 125 km/h with a 01 to 100 in 19.1 S. In use, it turns out to be rather fun to drive around town, but less on the main roads.

There remains the question of cost, depending on the finish, the prices after the ecological bonus range from 12,403 euros to 13,498 euros, which is among the lowest on the market.

The Dacia Spring is certainly not perfect, but it offers more than interesting value for money for anyone who wants to go electric. You will find more details in our complete test of the cheapest electric car.

Renault Twingo Electric

  • Agile in town
  • Complete connected system
  • Good habitability

The technical cousin of the Smart Forfour took a long time to be presented, since it took until 2020 for the most popular of current Renaults to be available in a 100% electric version. The Twingo Electric has a range of approximately 190 kilometers according to the WLTP mixed cycle and can be recharged from 0 to 80% in one hour on a public 22 kW terminal. The electric motor distills 83 horsepower et 160 Nm of torque. It is powered by a battery with a capacity of 22 kWh.

Rather agile, the Renault Twingo Electric is perfectly at ease in town for daily journeys. Its maximum speed limited to 135 km/h and its small battery do not make it a good traveler, but this is not necessarily its primary vocation. It is necessary to count from 21,350 euros in starting price, excluding the ecological bonus of 5,764 euros, and not 6,000 euros, because it is limited to 27% of the price of the car, which brings us to a price of 15 586 euros. As for the rental, Renault communicates on offers from 99 euros per month for an entry-level model in “Life” finish, it will rather be necessary to count around 160 euros per month for a mid-range version ” Zen” correctly equipped.

It suffers above all from a very busy Renault electric catalog. However, if you let yourself be tempted, we recommend that you read our Twingo Electric test.
