Samsung is currently the king of flip phones, but the competition is increasingly present. Just a day after the presentation of the Galaxy Z Fold4 flip phone, Xiaomi responded with its MIX Fold 2 fighter, which is in many ways a more interesting device.
By the end of the year, OnePlus and Oppo should present their foldable hybrids of tablets and phones, and it seems that their rival will be the Vivo X Fold S. It is a refresh of the Vivo X Fold model presented earlier this year.
Nothing is official yet, but from known information, the Galaxy Z Fold4 will have a serious rival in this Vivo.
Vivo X Fold S will reportedly have a wider external screen with a diagonal of 6.53 inches in FHD+ resolution and with a 120Hz refresh rate. Unfolded, it will offer an 8-inch tablet again with a 120Hz refresh rate.
It will have four cameras on the outside. The main 50MP camera will have OIS stabilization. It also has a 48MP ultra-wide, 12MP telephoto camera for 2x magnification and an 8MP telephoto camera for up to 5X magnification. It will have a 16MP selfie camera in the external display. This would also make this phone a strong competitor to the Galaxy Z Fold4.
In the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 under the hood, there is no doubt at all.
With the battery and charging, this Vivo will probably humiliate its rival from Samsung the most. Apparently it arrives equipped 4700mAh battery, which will be charged at 80W wired and at 50W wireless with support for 10W reversible wireless charging of other devices on your back.
However, what Vivo needs to be a real competitor to Samsung’s flip phones is global availability and reputation, which Samsung has been building for years.
