At One More Thing we, probably like many other iPhone users, are eagerly looking forward to the arrival of iOS 16. The operating system brings a lot of interesting innovations, including in the Apple Wallet. Jeroen dived into the functionality and tells you all about it.
The Apple Wallet app is particularly useful. For example, you store airline tickets, digital bank cards and tickets for events. I am personally very enthusiastic about the fact that the app will soon be able to count on a number of new functionalities.
The revamped Apple Wallet app
The updated Wallet app will also help you track orders from iOS 16. Web shops have to use a new system for this, but Apple has already managed to secure the necessary parties. For example, we have the promise that Shopify, a system with which companies manage a webshop, can count on support.
There will also be a special tab in the Wallet with Ordersor as it is called in English: Orders. You can add this by clicking the plus sign in the top right corner. In iOS 15 you can already add a payment or public transport card, but in iOS 16 there will be Orders Bee. When you make a purchase at a retailer that supports the system, the order form and delivery information will appear there.
Keep track of your (old) orders
In the tab in the Wallet you can see all active orders that are currently in progress. In addition, you will also find the history of orders. If you want more information about an order, click on the relevant reservation. The details of the delivery, such as the tracking number, can then be viewed. That number can also be selected and will take you directly to the website of the delivery service. So you have all the information at your fingertips with just a few actions.
By means of notifications, the Apple Wallet app knows how to keep you informed about your order. You know immediately when you can expect a certain package. In addition, it is possible for users to add orders manually. Webshops would only have to add a button in the confirmation email for this.
Apple is one step closer to a driver’s license in the Wallet app on your iPhone
You can then delete more sensitive orders from the history. This way you will no longer see them among the orders in the Wallet. You can then share orders that you place with someone else. Handy if, for example, you buy a gift for someone together. Real export of data is not possible, unless you take a screenshot.
