Actually, the release plan, derived from the last few years, is quite clear. Apple always releases iOS and iPadOS in September, along with a new iPhone. According to Bloomberg, however, there will be differences this year, iPadOS 16 should not be released until October. So far at least “persons with knowledge of the matter”.
iPadOS 16, Lags and Stage Manager
The reasons can only be speculated, two approaches would be common. It is possible that Apple will show new hardware in this segment later. That prevented the group, but so far seldom, from releasing an update beforehand. More believable are problems with the Stage Manager, a new feature of iPadOS 16. This would give the tablet system window management / more multitasking. So far, the function has only been limited to iPads with M1 processors, which has led to harsh criticism. In addition, the function is anything but stable or performant in our test, especially in cooperation with external monitors.
