Microsoft is testing a family offer for its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, currently only available in Colombia and Ireland. A very logical offer in the Xbox ecosystem.

After several months of rumours, Microsoft has started testing a family offer for its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Xbox Insiders in Colombia and Ireland can now test this new proposal, which allows them to add up to four other people to their subscription, as long as they stay in the same country. They will have access to all the benefits of Game Pass Ultimate, including the catalog of hundreds of titles for console, PC and cloud gaming.

If you are in one of these countries, you can buy the Xbox Game Pass – Insider Preview offer on the Microsoft Store, if the Redmond firm still allows it – it seems to be done in dribs and drabs -. If you are already a Game Pass subscriber, the remaining time on your subscription will be converted to its monetary value. One month of Game Pass Ultimate is equivalent to 18 days of Family Offer. After a little calculation, this makes it possible to estimate the price of this family offer, namely about $25 per month if Microsoft offers it in the United States, or about $5 per person.

Currently only available in Colombia and Ireland

You will have to wait until your subscription expires to switch to a different offer. The people you want to invite to a family plan will also need to cancel their existing Game Pass membership or wait for it to expire. They can also, if they wish, create a new Microsoft account. Please note, those who have an Xbox All Access offer are not eligible.

A very logical offer in the Xbox ecosystem

In any case, a family offer makes perfect sense for Microsoft, which has positioned its Game Pass at the heart of its Xbox business. This should help the company boost overall user numbers, though it will likely come at the expense of some subscriptions in households with multiple Game Pass subscribers or among friends who want to split the price.

Nintendo has long offered a family offer for its Switch Online subscription, both for the standard version and for the additional pack. And while Sony recently revamped its PlayStation Plus offering, the Japanese giant isn’t yet offering anything similar.
