The program was launched in August 2021 and aims to help fix iPhone 12 series with sound problems. With models made between October 2020 and April 2021, you may no longer be able to hear the other person when you call.
Apple is extending the repair program
The reason for this is said to be a component in the “receiver module” that can fail in devices from the specified period. According to Apple, a small number of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are affected. The iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max are not included in the program.
The program was originally designed for two years and has now been extended to three years after purchase, according to the support document.
The process for affected devices is as follows:
Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider
Make an appointment at an Apple Store
Contact Apple Support to arrange mail-in service through the Apple Repair Center
As always, Apple also points out that other damage may have to be repaired first.
If the iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro has damage that prevents the repair from being carried out (e.g. a cracked screen), this problem must first be fixed before the actual service can take place. In some cases there is a cost associated with the additional repair.
