Samsung’s ONE UI is one of the most popular Android skins on the market. Version 5.0 is based on the upcoming Android 13 and brings a handful of novelties, although mostly cosmetic.
The first public beta version of the ONE UI 5.0 update is rolling out in European markets, and is initially available for Galaxy S22 series devices.
Firmware tags S90xBXXU2ZHV4on the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra brings 16 new interface themes with an additional 12 colors of interface elements such as icons and Control Center.
The notification system has been refined, so now it will be possible to silence notifications of individual applications instead of silencing them at the system level.
Support for stacked widgets has been extended to all applications for even better use of the Home screen area.
They also implemented a new gesture for a quick jump into multitasking, which will certainly be welcomed by all those who use phones with larger screens.
Search within the My Documents app has been improved, and some new Bixby routines have been added, if you use Samsung’s virtual assistant.
The camera application will now also display a histogram in Pro mode, and it will be easier to zoom with one hand. Food recording mode is now also supported by the telephoto lens.
Finally, numerous Samsung system applications such as Samsung Internet, Health, Pay, Members, the Galaxy Store, SmartThings and others have been updated.
What I’m personally looking forward to are even smoother interface animations, which Samsung has promised to deliver. Let’s hope that it will not remain just a promise once again.

If you don’t feel like playing with the beta, you will probably have to wait until the official ONE UI 5.0 November this year.
