The Huawei P50 Pocket turned out to be an extremely interesting rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip. Many people really liked its design and the outer round screen, and the notch on the fold of the main screen is less noticeable than the one on the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Flip4 models.
However, due to the lack of Google services, lack of support for 5G and a rather high price, the P50 Pocket does not record any particular sales successes.
Huawei is now preparing a new, more affordable model, which they allegedly called the P50 Pocket New. They say that the model with 256GB data memory will cost $721which would make it significantly cheaper than the Galaxy Z Flip4.
That P50 Pocket New will be cheaper in every way. Judging by the published photos, it was left without that practical external cover screen.
Furthermore, it is known that it will not be powered by the flagship chip but by the Snapdragon 778, which normally powers mid-rangers like the Galaxy A52s.
Thus, the P50 Pocket New will not really be able to compete with the Galaxy Z Flip4, with nothing but price.
If nothing else, it might encourage Samsung to put together a more affordable flip.
