We tested the Razer Enki Pro gaming chair, an upgraded version of the Enki. Here is our opinion on this chair that goes upmarket.

Present on the gaming chair market since 2020, Razer perfected its expertise in 2021 with the Enki that we tested and appreciated. Behold, the mark of the snakes returns with “the ultimate comfortable gaming chair», the Razer Enki Pro. By becoming “Pro“, this chair gains in quality, in finishes, in comfort, but also in price since it goes from 449 to… 1099 euros. Is the game worth the candle? Here is our full opinion after a test of several months.

Razer Enki Pro Specs

Seat width54 cm
shoulder bow110°
Coating materialSynthetic leather, Alcantara
Max inclination152°
Recommended size166,5 cm – 204 cm
Recommended weight< 136 kg

This test was carried out with a Razer Enki Pro offered to the editorial staff by the brand.

A simple assembly, except…

Razer puts the small dishes in the big ones for its Enki Pro, or at least the small boxes in the big ones. Upon receipt, we find ourselves faced with a well-organized package, separating each removable block of the seat and the small parts used for assembly. Added to this is an assembly guide illustrated on a huge sheet of glossy paper, which does not require turning the pages, as well as gloves to avoid getting your hands dirty with the grease from the screws. There is also a straight Allen key with a handle to be held with the full hand, which allows you to tighten with more force.

This is not a surprise: the package is similar to that of the Enki. It’s no surprise that Razer takes the same care with its very high-end chair.

On the editing side, the similarities continue. It must be said that in terms of general design, the Enki Pro does not differ significantly from the Enki, with a few exceptions. All in all, and if all goes well for you, it is possible to assemble the chair in approximately 20 to 30 minutes, even by yourself, the instructions being well illustrated. Of course, it is still advisable to do it in pairs to make life easier.

That, of course, is if everything goes well. In our case, we encountered a problem when associating the backrest to the seat. The back part is held to the rest of the frame by four screws (two on each side). It would have been fashionable to have the pieces interlock to facilitate assembly and avoid having to hold the backrest while securing it. Result: for a long time, only three screws fit correctly in their thread. Even by loosening them, I just had to finish tightening the 3rd for the 4th to spin in a vacuum. It was only after multiple attempts that everything was finally back to normal.

Overall, the Enki Pro is therefore not very complex to assemble in itself, but for a chair over 1000 euros, one could hope for a rail to guide the positioning of the various parts.

Un design massif

In terms of design, the Enki Pro again differs very little from the Enki from 2021 at first glance. We stay on a gaming chair with bucket seat curves at the shoulders, but quite a few purely aesthetic curves at the level of the kidneys as is the case with some competitors. Remember that this is an office chair and thatfirst, you should therefore not take a turn at 180 km/h in it. We therefore appreciate here the bias of Razer, more sober and more comfortable for corpulent people (the chair supporting up to 136 kg).

Overall, the finishes are still better on the Enki Pro. The back is carbon fiber, a material that’s supposed to be stronger than plastic, but that didn’t stop us from scratching the chair. We find this coating even on the caches to be fixed on both sides to hide the frame of the seat and its screws, the latter being visible on the Enki.

In addition to the synthetic leather present on the Enki, Razer has added an Alcantara facing, an artificial material reminiscent of suede or suede. Both the seat and the back are therefore softer and softer to the touch. Good to know if you like to sit naked in your armchair…

Massive, heavy and imposing, the Enki Pro is also extremely stable on its five wheels and well balanced. At no time will you be afraid of tipping over, whether during your movements or when lying down in its maximum inclination (152°).

The entire Enki Pro exudes high-end. Nothing squeaks, nothing seems to have unnecessary play, everything is meticulously thought out. Even the handle used to adjust the inclination of the backrest gives way to a wheel, which is much smoother to use.

Although relatively sober for a gaming chair, the Razer Enki Pro still sports neon green stitching, the brand’s iconic color, as well as the logo with three snakes of the same color on the headrest. It might clash with some interiors. As for those who really take the tuning side of it all the way, the Enki Pro is available in a chick yellow Koenigsegg edition and an azure blue Williams Esports variant (both at 1500 euros).

A comfortable, yet rigid chair

Like the 2021 version, the Enki Pro is comfortable… for those who like seats with rigid support. The idea is to provide lumbar support forcing people to maintain a neutral position in order to reduce fatigue during prolonged use.

Rigid doesn’t mean hard though. Both the seat and the backrest remain in foam, guaranteeing the comfort of your sitting for many hours. The changes made to the coating of this Pro model also give a padded side and thus add a little extra comfort.

Note that the Alacantra coating breathes a little better and will tend to be more pleasant in hot weather. We are far from fabric or mesh chairs, but the heat waves of the summer of 2022 were not particularly infernal in this Enki Pro.

Point which is of some importance: you do not feel cramped in the Enki Pro. With a seat of 21 inches (just over 53 cm), a person of average build can even sit cross-legged on it while remaining comfortable.

The armrests are the same as on the Enki. Understand by this that they are soft and very pleasant. You’ll feel like you’re keeping your elbows on little cushions.

Smooth movements

At the risk of rambling, the manufacturing quality is there and the parts generate little friction between them. Even after several months, the rotation is therefore fluid, without jerking, and a small impulse will easily make you spin.

The wheels are designed for silent gliding and good grip on the ground. What to avoid staying the day in sheathing to keep your chair facing your desk. However, this design has the drawbacks of its advantages since this grip requires you to give a good impulse to move this already rather heavy seat, especially on carpet. It won’t be your best bet for office errands.

Settings: the magnetic cushion, a good idea

On the settings side, Razer does not particularly innovate compared to the previous model. We find the same 4D armrests (adjustable in height, forwards or backwards, from left to right and in pivot), the same inclination of 152°, and the same seat height ranging from 46 to 57 cm from the floor. For a standard height desk (75 cm), we will therefore tend to keep the Enki Pro at its minimum size. Even so, you may get rubbing knees when crossing your legs. For an optimal position, we would have liked it to be able to descend a little more.

The only novelty finally comes from the cushion of the headrest. Attached by straps to the Enki, it is here magnetic, which allows it to be adjusted precisely according to your size. The magnets are effective, the cushion never falls and is easily positioned. Note that it is a little thick at its base, which keeps the cervical in a position that is not always optimal.

The rocker does not change. The rocking is synchronous, keeping the seat and the backrest at the same angle, but the inclination of the backrest does not adjust the seat. At this price, however, it would be the least of things.

Finally, the lumbar support is always integrated into the backrest, with no adjustment possible. In my case, it didn’t bother me, but those with very specific needs could see it as a real inconvenience.

Razer Enki Pro price and release date

The Razer Enki Pro is available at 1099 euros on the brand’s website in black and green or at 1499 euros for the Koenigsegg and Williams Esports editions. At the time of writing these lines, a gift certificate of 100 euros is offered for purchase.

Note that it is much more expensive than the 450 euros requested for the Razer Enki (with a Kiyo Pro webcam worth 210 euros offered).
